Analyses of a visual experience (Line):
This is the first image in the 4-step project. For this project it was required to find a place on campus and take a picture and then recreate the image as a sketch. For this project I chose the Bowling alley staircase. This image was created using different pen types to show the different line weights.
Analyses of a visual experience second image out of 5 (shape & Form):
This was created by cutting out negative space in the building. This project used an exacto knife. After cutting out the negative space the image was placed on top of black cardstock
Analyses of a visual experience (Value & Shadow):
This is the Third part of the 5-step project. For this project we were required to redraw the original sketch on a black background using white tracing paper. After retracing the design, it was required to shade in lighting to create dimension and show the shadows of the picture.
Analyses of a visual experience (Color):
This is the fourth step in the 5 step project. This image was designed on photoshop. For this design I used the original photo of the Stair case and created shapes over each shape in the picture. The colors are purple, pink, and red-pink to create an analogous color scheme.
Analyses of a visual experience (Implied Line drawing):
This project was the last drawing in the 5-step project. For this project we were task to recreate our previous drawings using only lines and dots to show form.
Seaside Serenity:
This was group project between myself and three of my classmates. We worked together to build this apartment using photoshop. In this project we were required to show the use of unity, texture, and color theory throughout the apartment. For unity we kept a consist theme throughout the project with the colors, textures, and the theme of northeast coastal home. Examples of textures being used in this apartment was marble in the counter tops and woven wood in the chairs and coffee table. For color theory we kept a monochromatic color scheme with three types of blues and hints of corals, tan, and white.
Scaled Pattern
The two artistic render is a color pencil that show two options for scaled patterns on a decorative chair with armrest.
Pattern 1 is a wider scaled repeating pattern with bolder colors and larger stripes making a bolder statement piece.
Pattern 2 is a narrow scale pattern with fainter style colors and thinner alternating pattern giving a delicate feel to the piece.
A Woven Story
This is a project that is created using strips of colorful construction paper to weave and image that relates to the designer’s individual story.
For this assignment, I used the color red as it is my favorite color, to pair with the red, I chose to use orange to compliment the red. I also chose to add black and white to give contrast to the image and have the focal point be the cat featured in the middle of the project. I chose this design because it relates to my childhood and my favorite colors. I also chose to create a cat in the middle of the woven story as it is my favorite animal. I also think cat’s wearing glasses is funny. Another factor for choosing this design is that my childhood nickname is cat or Ava Cat, this comes from my middle name Catherine.
